“Welcoming Newcomers” is a two session course, designed to train people to be part of a welcoming ministry in a church. It can be run over two separate sessions or over a single longer session with a coffee break in the middle. The course covers the Biblical mandate of welcoming, the importance of welcoming, the practice of welcoming and specific skills required. It also deals with recommended systems for effectively ministering to newcomers, including visitors packs, recording systems and follow up procedures.
This course was originally part of the training manual, “Active Christian Service”, that I wrote in 1993. It was published by Churches Of Christ, NSW, Department Of Church Development and Education, and has been used by many churches around Australia.
