SHARING THE GOOD NEWS

SHARING THE GOOD NEWS

This is a 9 week course equipping Christians to engage more effectively in friendship evangelism. As well as learning principles for sharing their faith, participants will memorise a number of Bible verses and learn a simple gospel outline. The course also covers the role of prayer in evangelism, building relationships with non-Christians, listening to the Holy Spirit and the process of leading someone in a commitment.

While the course encourages participants to learn a gospel outline and memorise Bible verses, it is not intended to promote rote, prepackaged evangelism. Rather, it simply enables Christians to have a clear understanding of the gospel, and gives them a resource to draw upon when appropriate. The major focus of the course is upon friendship evangelism; living and sharing the gospel in the context of authentic friendships with non-Christians.

This course was originally part of the training manual, “Active Christian Training”, that I wrote in 1992 (prior to the publication of the subsequent manual, “Active Christian Service”, in 1993). It was published by Churches Of Christ, NSW, Department Of Church Development and Education, and has been used by many churches around Australia.
