Contingency and the Argument for God

I don’t often re-post other people’s articles on my website, but this one is particularly interesting. It summarises an exchange between a high profile agnostic named Alex O’Connor, also known as ‘The Cosmic Sceptic’, and ChatGPT. Alex asks the AI a series of questions around the topic of the ultimate cause for our universe and the AI eventually reaches the conclusion that the existence of a transcendent creator, commonly called ‘God’, can be logically deduced. It says,

” … it logically follows that a necessary being must exist and that it cannot be confined to the universe which began to exist … The most common name people would use for such a necessarily existing being with a will to bring about the universe is God.”

What is most significant about the exchange is that the AI knows that Alex is an agnostic with a strong leaning towards atheism, yet it still reaches a theistic conclusion. It is a fascinating dialogue and worth reading the article in full. It is published on the Christian Post website, HERE.
